Newborn Pharmacy Technician Level 1
A customer arrives at a retail pharmacy to pick up medications for her wife, Olivia Brooks, who was just discharged from the hospital following a Cesarean Section. There are also medications to pick up for their new baby, Nova Brooks. In this scenario, students discover that the insurance company has the new baby listed as a boy named Noah, instead of a girl named Nova. The customer decides to deal with the insurance company later and pay for the baby’s medications now. Students will fill the medication order from the shelves of the ARISE Virtual Pharmacy. At the end of the scenario, Olivia Brooks calls the retail pharmacy stating she has concerns about the medications getting to the baby through her breast milk and asks for information about this.

Newborn Pharmacy Technician Level 2
Nova Brooks was born a few minutes ago at 34 weeks’ gestation. In the beginning of this scenario, students receive report from an RN stating that surfactant is needed STAT in the nursery. Student will need to review the Survanta Administration Protocol and then select the correct amount of surfactant from the Virtual Pharmacy shelf. Then, students receive another call indicating that antibiotics are needed. Students should compound the ordered antibiotics per individual program guidelines.

Heart Failure Pharmacy Technician 1A

Once completed, they see a video of the patient who is shocked and angry at the cost of these medications. Students must choose how to respond.
